I just finished The Fix and I LOVED it. So wonderful from so many points of view. The consistent voice and style the author uses which really makes things come from inside the characters and elucidates who they are, the amazing bits of philosophy (I actually dog-eared quite a few pages for the quotes) the knowledge of history and politics and so many facts that are pertinent to the story, and the undercurrent of how writing and art figure deeply in the healing process, all make for a rich and moving reading experience. A totally original story written by someone who I can only assume has vast experience of the subject, but recreated, embellished and reinvented as a brilliant piece of fiction. I can't recommend it highly enough. I couldn't put it down.
